“Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”
So St. John advises us on finding the divine in beauty – which is difficult to uncover in modern culture. So we should not only “think about” groups like the Meritage Vocal Arts Ensemble that lead us to beauty through the human voice raised in song, but actively support them.
Meritáge Vocal Arts is a vocal chamber ensemble of approximately 40 singers, is the central core the Southern California Master Chorale. This larger “symphonic” chorus performs regularly with the Long Beach Symphony, Golden State Pops Orchestra and the Marina del Rey Summer Symphony. In addition to their Southern California Master Chorale responsibilities, the Meritáge musicians also present independent, performances more appropriate to the dimensions of a chamber ensemble. Members of Meritáge Vocal Arts are highly skilled, experienced choral musicians capable of performing a diverse body of repertoire ranging from polyphonic European concert music to the contemporary textures of American Jazz.
Vocal arts range from high-brow and classical t0 fun and swingin’ – and the Meritage Vocal Ensemble’s May 6 fundraiser at the Colony House in Anaheim offers the latter in support of it all. Click here to buy your tickets and enjoy an evening of Rat Pack-inspired fun.
