May The Force Be With Anaheim! Star Wars Celebration In Town Through April 19

The Force was with Anaheim as the “Star Wars Celebration” show kicked-off yesterday at the Anaheim Convention Center. The highlight was the unveiling of the new trailer for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” by director JJ Abrams. The best part for Star Wars fans is the end:

“Chewie, we’re home.” Love it.

45, 000 fans are expected to attend Star Wars Celebration over the course of four days – enjoying panels, cosplay, browsing exhibitors and merchandise and communing in their devotion to the Star Wars mythology. There’s a heightened anticipation at the biennial event this year because the first installment of the final trilogy is due to be released this December. The Force Awakens is directed by JJ Abrams, who has done an amazing job re-booting another massive sci-fi mythology, the original Star Trek – so one can almost take for granted his Star Wars trilogy will stand out as superb storytelling.

Today’s schedule encompasses a range of offerings: advanced droid building; jedi training; Sabe Guild lightsaber demonstrations; Star Wars speed dating; Star Wars origami; and a panel on the “Secrets of the Mos Eisley Cantina.”

There will be a cosplay contest at 3:00 p.m. and the 3D version of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith will be premiered tonight at 6:30 p.m..

Tickets are available for today and Sunday; Saturday is sold out.
