2.4 million people visited Anaheim in May and spent $710 million in Orange County, according to Visit Anaheim, which markets the city as a destination for business and leisure travel. That’s a 19% increase over the number of visitors in May 2016, and in-OC spending grew by 9.5% over the same period last year.
All told, 10 million visitors have come to Anaheim from January through May of 2-17, which is a 13% increase from the same period in 2016; their year-to-date spending is approximately $3.4 billion – a nearly 10% boost over last year.
There were 23 million total visitors to Anaheim in 2016; they spent a collective $8 billion countywide.
According to Visit Anaheim, day-trippers to Anaheim historically account for about two-thirds of the city’s traveler total; travelers to the city commonly account for about half of OC visitor totals.
