Sen. John Moorlach Speaking at Anaheim Chamber Legislative Committee On Friday, September 18

State Senator John Moorlach (R-35th District) will speak to the Anaheim Chamber of C0mmerce Legislative Committee tomorrow, Friday, September 18.  The 35th Senate District includes Anaheim Hills.

From the Anaheim Chamber:

Moorlach was elected to the California Senate in a special election in March 2015, taking the seat previously held by now-Congresswoman Mimi Walters. Moorlach had previously served as a member of the Orange County Board of Supervisors from 2006 to 2015, and as Orange County Treasurer/Tax Collector from 1995 to 2006. Senator Moorlach represents the 37th Senate District in Sacramento, comprised of Costa Mesa, Irvine, Lake Forest, Laguna Beach, Laguna Woods, Newport Beach, Tustin, Villa Park as well as parts of Anaheim, Huntington Beach and Orange.

Senator Moorlach began his career in public service 20 years ago when he warned that the Orange County Treasurer-Tax Collector’s risky investment strategies would lead to bankruptcy. His warnings proved true when Orange County filed for bankruptcy protection in December of 1994, becoming the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history. In the aftermath, the Board of Supervisors appointed John Moorlach to serve out the term of County Treasurer-Tax Collector, where he took immediate steps to reorganize county finances, cut losses, lessen risk, and create efficiencies within government.

John Moorlach was twice re-elected to the office of County Treasurer-Tax Collector. In 2006, voters elected John to serve in his first of two terms on the Board of Supervisors, where he continued his focus on reforming the county’s budget practices and sounding the alarm on the county’s growing unfunded liabilities.

Please join the Chamber’s Legislative Committee as we welcome Senator Moorlach and gain his valuable perspective as the newest member of the Legislature and of Orange County’s delegation to Sacramento and hear his views on California’s business climate and the state’s budget and economic situation.

The Chamber Legislative Committee is open exclusively to Chamber Members only, as a benefit of your membership. There is no cost to attend, and lunch is provided so please RSVP early to reserve your seat.
